Halloween, a time of treats, tricks, and scares. Why not relax on Oct. 31 with a few friends and enjoy a marathon of  classic Halloween television shows and movies from childhood? There is a wide variety to choose from.

Remembers the classic Disney series, Halloween Town (2001-2006)? These four films focus on Marnie Piper, (Kimberly J. Brown) a teenage girl who discovers a family secret: they are witches. Her grandmother, Aggie (Debby Reynolds) resident of Halloween Town,  teaches Marnie how to use her magic. Throughout the series, Marnie and her family encounter various problems and villains.

Another film for the big night could be Casper (1995). Everyone’s favorite, Casper the friendly ghost, haunts a manor along with his obnoxious uncles, the Ghostly Trio. When humans move into the mansion, Casper tries to befriend them, but the Trio tries to scare them out of the house. A simple, heart-warming movie to get in the spirit of Halloween

Of course there is the iconic It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966). A flick that will have the whole family happy to watch. Follow the Peanuts crew on their Halloween adventures and surprise from the Great Pumpkin.

Some other movies that can never go wrong on Halloween night include,  Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds (1963), Disney’s The Haunted Mansion (2003), Hocus Pocus (1993, The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), Corpse Bride (2005), the 25+ episodes of The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror (1990-2017) and for the bravest, The Ring (2002).

Jenna Perkins, junior, says “I remember the first time I watched The Ring. I was scared for weeks! I always thought I was going to get that “7 days” phone call. To this day, I won’t watch it alone.”

Getting a genuine scare, or just plain reminiscing about favorite holiday memories, these films are perfect. Happy Halloween!
